Synopsis

Author Kathy Cordova was an overworked, stressedout sales executive. After the birth of her first child, a colicky baby who went through a number of nannies, Cordova finally figured out the Universe was giving her a message--give it up. She quit her job to become a fulltime mom. And as she adjusted to her new life, Cordova learned the power of miracles through the art of surrender.

Part I of Let Go, Let Miracles Happen shows readers that surrender is much more powerfuland effectivethan constant striving, or toughing it out at all costs. Based on wisdom drawn from the Bible and contemporary books such as A Course in Miracles, Cordova tells how she discovered and came to accept surrendering her own life. She guides readers to experience how surrender can actually make them stronger. Hard to believe in our gogo culture, but literally doing nothing, and fully and deeply accepting circumstances, is often a wiser course of "action."

The power of waiting, while accepting and surrendering, produces miracles. "The good news is miracles," Cordova writes. "Instead of working so hard to find or create magic in our lives, we can relax, go with the flow, work together in harmony with a greater power than ourselves, and experience more joy and purpose than we ever imagined. And the formula is simplelove and surrender."

Part II of Let Go, Let Miracles Happen is an inspirational collection of stories from people who have suffered everything from addictions to terminal diseases, profound disappointments to perpetual disillusionment, and triumphed. Cordova shows that what they all have in common is that when they learned to surrender, let go, accept and wait, miracles happened.

From the Author

To most people, the idea of surrender is simultaneously enticing and deeply frightening.

The notion of surrender makes us bristle - it goes against everything we've ever learned. In our can-do, make-it-happen, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps culture, our image of surrender is a white flag waving in defeat. We believe surrender is for losers.

Yet, surrender is enticing, too. How comforting it would be to release our problems and our pain to a benevolent Higher Power, like a fussy baby, relaxing into her mother's loving arms. What a relief it would be to know that we don't have to do it all.

Spiritual surrender is giving up the struggle in our lives. It is releasing our need to control people, situations and outcomes. Spiritual surrender is allowing our life to be guided by love and intuition. When we truly "get it" our lives unfold in miraculous ways.

Surrender sounds simple, but it’s not always easy to do. I have discovered that the best way for me to embrace difficult spiritual concepts is through stories. Hearing about other people putting spiritual principles into action helps us to learn, believe and apply those same spiritual principles in our own lives. Stories are truly our best teachers.

Friends, acquaintances and strangers have generously shared their amazing, deeply moving, and miraculous stories with me in the composition of this book. My hope is that these stories will guide you in your own spiritual growth. Many blessings to you on your journey into spiritual surrender.

From the Inside Flap

"If you take this book to heart, it will change your life. An inspired and insightful read for anyone seeking a deeper spiritual path." --Ame Mahler Beanland, co-author of "It's a Chick Thing," and "Celebrating Motherhood."

"Hurrah for Kathy Cordova! In this powerful book, she reveals something we all need to learn--namely that there are times in our lives that call for "giving up" or "giving in" as well as times for pushing and forcing our way in the world. May we all be inspired to cultivate receptive as well as dynamic energy." --M.J. Ryan, author of "The Power of Patience," and "Attitudes of Gratitude."

"Let Go, Let Miracles Happen: The Art of Spiritual Surrender" gives the art of spiritual surrendering new meaning. When faced with adversity, we can grow and heal, and this book teaches us how to do it! Kathy Cordova helps us understand that surrendering is giving up the negative--sadness, fear, anger--but not giving up the challenge. Thank you, Kathy, for giving us the tools to open our eyes and hearts and to experience the miracles that can come into our lives, no matter what." --Jackie Waldman, author of "The Courage to Give" series
