About the Author

José Rosa was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. His musical career started at age 10 studying music with professor Jose "Tito" Rivera. At 12, he played with the Humacao Symphonic Band under the direction of Professor German Peña Plaza, traveling to Venezuela, New York, Costa Rica, Virgin Islands, and Dominican Republic. At 14, he started formal percussion lessons with Professor Jose "Pepe" Torres. Performing with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. He was accepted into the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music at 17 years of age. There he studied with Professor Jose Alicea and played with the America youth symphony orchestra as Principal Percussionist. José has performed with renowned artists such as: Autruo Sandoval, Tito Puente, Mike Orta, Bobby Cruz, Richie Ray, and many others. Performing with his own music groups, he is also the director of "Contemporary Drums and Percussion Camp" at the University of Central Florida.
