Gr 2-3-Written in simple language, this book emphasizes the importance of the imagination in achieving one's dreams. Unfortunately, Powling tends to generalize about Dahl's mischievous childhood and omits many of the great adventures found in Dahl's autobiographical Boy (Farrar, 1984). The text also fails to mention the subject's erratic behavior later in life or his 1983 divorce and remarriage (although this is included in the "Important Dates" section). This biography's best attribute, by far, is its excellent use of full-color photographs spanning the popular writer's entire life.-Esther C. Ball, Carver Elementary School, Newport News, VA
