The author, Dodi Fayed's personal assistant, offers an inside look at the developing relationship of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed

August 31 will mark the first anniversary of the death of the Princess of Wales, and of the many books published to commemorate that tragic event (or at least to rekindle public interest in Diana's life and times), this one will undoubtedly attract the most attention. It is written by the personal assistant to Dodi Al Fayed, Diana's boyfriend with whom she died on that night in Paris a year ago. Born and raised in Morocco, Delorm also lived in Canada before immigrating to the U.S. He eventually became a waiter at the famous Spago restaurant in L.A., where he built up quite a reputation for excellent service to celebrities. He came to the attention of Dodi, who was living in California at the time, and was hired as his household assistant in 1990. Delorm was devoted to his boss, and when the Princess of Wales came into Dodi's life, over the course of their short-lived affair, Delorm quickly came to adore Diana for her beauty and generosity. And, curiously enough, he insists that "as the one witness to their love affair from start to tragic finish, I believe with all my heart that they would have married, and soon."
