About the Author
Carl Weber is the New York Times bestselling author of The Preacher's Son, So You Call Yourself a Man, Something on the Side, Up to No Good, Big Girls Do Cry, Torn Between Two Lovers, and She Ain't the One. He is the Publisher and Editorial Director of Urban Books and CEO of Urban Books Media, which is currently producing films based on several of his bestselling novels. Weber considers the travails of searching for love in New York's African American community from a male perspective through the experiences of a quartet of coworkers at a high school in Queens. When Kevin, a 23-year-old teacher who blew his chance in the NBA, tells Antoine, a 36-year-old English teacher and poet, and Tyrone, a 30-year-old ex-gang member turned security guard, about a phone dating service he's joined, his friends make fun of him, but the laugh is on them when they see Kevin's gorgeous date. So Tyrone, a self-described "player" looking for a little action, gives it a try, as does Antoine, who seeks someone to share his poetry. Even the unsavory school principal gets in the act after finding the dating service phone number on the gym floor. Each man grows through his encounters with women, and Weber goes beyond the usual dating cliches in this funny, affectionate, and stirring romance aimed at convincing readers that although the road to true love is rocky, it's still worth traversing.
