The book discusses not only the restoration and creation of fullness in the face and body, but also focuses on the effect that transplanted fat has on the tissue into which it is placed. The contributors present their observations on the remarkable changes produced by fat grafting on skin quality, scars, therapeutic radiation damage, ulcerations, and vocal cord injuries.
Chapters also explore possible explanations for these observations, including the effect of stem cells transplanted in the fatty tissue. The use of fat grafting in maxillofacial and craniofacial surgery is also covered The contributors discuss pre-treatment of irradiated tissues to reverse tissue damage, preparing the sites for further procedures, andrestoration or correction of soft tissue and bony defects.
