Mathematics and Mathematica for Economists integrates the computer algebra system, Mathematica, with an array of mathematical topics that are used to analyze systems that arise in business and economics. Mathematica is a powerful software product that is capable of doing symbolic and numerical computations, and possesses remarkable facilities to produce graphics that are essential to investigating mathematical problems.
This book demonstrates ways that Mathematica can be employed to grasp abstract mathematical concepts using its powerful symbolic and graphical capabilities. It covers the mathematical topics and applications that are the mainstay of economics--multivariable calculus, matrix algebra, systems of linear equations, eigensystems, quadratic forms, Taylor series, concave and quasiconcave functions, optimazation, linear and nonlinear programming, difference equations, and ordinary differential equations. The MathEcon package, which is supplied with the text, is a collection of Mathematica functions to augment Mathematica's built-in capabilities for exploring these topics.

The book is self-contained--it provides the material to learn the mathematics as well as programming skills to learn the Mathematica language.
