Newly married, Rebecca and Matt Clark are settled into a quiet life in London. Almost a year has passed since they risked their lives to prevent a powerful Evil from falsely indoctrinating the minds of children. When Rebecca receives a prophetic vision, the young woman, her husband, and her twin brother, Luke, are once again called upon to protect the innocent and thwart the plans of the Enemy. A continent away, Bible scholar Dr. Eleanor Chapel faces her own battle. Invited to co-chair Congressus Evangelicus III, an international conference that decides the role of the worldwide church, Dr. Chapel learns that someone or something doesn't want her there. The kidnapping of the scholar's family in Rome sparks a series of events that sends Rebecca, Matt, and Luke across the continent of Europe to find them, while Dr. Chapel and her new husband, Detective Sid Belton, stay behind to prevent Congressus from making a decision that will forever diminish the effectiveness of the church. Somehow Rebecca's visions, the kidnapping, the suspicious Italian nationals lurking around, and the people who want to get rid of Dr. Chapel are connected. In an ultimate showdown, Rebecca finds herself face-to-face with an old enemy and in the grips of an even more powerful and vicious supernatural evil. Suspenseful, well-written, and compelling, SUCH THY MERCIES draws readers into the struggle between Evil and ultimate redemption in this dramatic and satisfying addition to the Rebecca series.

WALKER BUCKALEW received a bachelor's degree in English and religion from Duke University before serving as an officer on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation. Following his Navy service, Buckalew worked as a public school teacher and coach while earning his M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wyoming. Buckalew then embarked on a career in higher education, teaching at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, and the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He was later appointed president and chief academic officer at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. Since 1989 he has served as a consultant to private schools throughout North America. He lives with his wife, Dr. Linda Mason Hall, in Richmond, Virginia.
Like [C.S.] Lewis, Buckalew has mastered a narrative technique by which an incident unfolds, but what follows may not be the immediate sequence of events. Instead, he leaps forward in order to create a measure of suspense, then returns to fill in the missing details. This looping effect advances the suspense, permits the reader to offer one's own suppositions, then surprises or confirms by picking up the loose threads. ...While [the novels] are demanding in vocabulary, narrative structure, and theology, PAIDEIA, Inc., urges Christian schools to challenge their best students in English and Bible courses by assigning these novels to the upper level curriculum. . . . Christian educators would be edified by reading the [series] as an exercise in faculty development and critical thinking. --Dr. D. Bruce Lockerbie, Chairman, PAIDEIA, Inc., From The PAIDEIA LETTER, October 2006
I have been eagerly awaiting [Such Thy Mercies] since the first volume. In this potent culmination, Buckalew's characters dramatically express his mastery of the Christian themes of obedience, prayerful supplication, surrender, and forgiveness the ultimate power and mercy of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. --Betsy Robinson, Canton, New York
For a third time, Buckalew's characters wield divine weaponry in ways that inspire. May others enjoy it as much as I did! --Rev. Tom Kenney, Senior Pastor, Yorktown, Virginia
