About the Author

Shelley Peterman Schwarz graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was a teacher of the hearing impaired in the Madison metropolitan school district for thirteen years. In 1979, Schwarz was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but continued teaching until 1981 when the effects of the illness began to restrict her mobility. She is a motivational speaker and award-winning writer and author. She has published more than 350 essays, how-tos, service pieces, columns, and features on a wide variety of subjects. She currently writes for newspapers and magazines reaching a readership of nearly two million. Her Making Life Easier tips have appeared in numerous publications including the Wisconsin State Journal, Mature Lifestyles, Arthritis Today, and Inside MS. She is the host of Making Life Easier, an Internet radio program.
