((headline)) You're invited!
Young wizard, I'm speaking to you . . . Draw near so I can share my secrets for creating fantastic, enchanted wizard's parties. You remember me, I'm the 600-year-old wizard who told you all about the magical world in The Book of Wizard Craft. Here I'll tell you how to create celebrations for all occasions and every season, from Merlin's Birthday Parley to a Spirited Druid Halloween Gathering. Marvelous things to make and do, yummy food to feast on, and astonishing stories and legends to read aloud and marvel over. Gathering together is very wizardly, and my best memories are the times I spent with my friends at their castles or mine, playing games and making magic. I'm unquestionably an authority on these matters-I've been around almost forever, right? Now it's your turn to have fun. Enjoy!

From Booklist:
Gr. 4-6. Expertly riding the Harry Potter tsunami, the authors expand on the potions and projects of The Book of Wizard Craft (2001) with this collection of ideas for eight theme and seasonal fetes--from "Wizards' Winter Revels" to an "Egyptian Summer Solstice Party." Assuring children that, "we wizards never say no to having a good time," the jolly, 600-year-old narrator suggests games, crafts, costumes, snacks, and such crowd-pleasing concoctions as "Dragon's Blood Potion," which changes color when poured into prepared glasses (the first ingredient listed is "an adult wizard"). The book even includes a few a sketchy folktales. Patterns and diagrams appear when needed, and Baggetta's painted party scenes add festive, atmospheric notes. Though the volume is overdesigned, with padded covers and small type printed over textured backgrounds, the contents are both inventive and practical enough to keep young alchemists and faerie folk spellbound without causing adult wizards to lose either their sanity or their life savings.
