Reviews

The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all present slightly different versions of Christ's Passion, or the events of Holy Week. In this book, Wharton (The Story of Christmas) edits together a single chronological narrative of Jesus' final week from the four Gospels and the letters of Paul. Wharton is careful to note that the text, which he based on more than three dozen English translations of the Bible, is not embellished or enhanced in any way. While the idea of synthesizing the Gospels is certainly not new, this is a very attractive edition, and it's interesting to see the week's events laid out in a systematic, day-by-day fashion.
