From January to July, St. Patrick's Day to Christmas, in sunshine or in rain, Sloane Tanen's adorable chick Coco is ready to take readers through an entire year full of fun.
There's a winter ice skating party, a s-s-s sneaky April Fool's Day prank, a summer road trip, even a Thanksgiving dinner that's fit for birds of all feathers. Imaginative details within the colorful photographs and quirky stanzas follow a course through the entire calendar year-making this a perfect introduction to the seasons, holidays, and months for young children.
Reviews
"Whimsical verses and crisp, vibrant photography present readers with a seasonal serving of Coco's antics. ...Unabashedly goofy, Tanen's rollicking tale of chicken-infused hilarity is good fun and a refreshing take on the seasonal holidays." -Kirkus Reviews
"The little chick who premiered in Where Is Coco Going? gets photographed against groovy backdrops month by month in Coco All Year Round. Coco finds fun in all seasons, whether skating on the swimming pool in January, surrounded by green chicks for a Saint Patrick's Day parade pr celebrating her birthday in May." -Publishers Weekly
"Colorful and whimsical." -TheCelebrityCafe.com

PreSchool-Grade 2–Four-line rhymes touch on one event or activity for each month of the year. Some of the selections are obvious–New Years Day, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day. Other holidays, like the Fourth of July, are not included. Julys verse is about Magic Camp. Decembers verse is not holiday specific, but the picture has both a Christmas tree and a menorah in the window. The photo illustrations of pompon chicks posed in miniature sets provide more interest than the text. Young readers will enjoy finding small objects and details, but they will likely miss the picture story and the humor. The verses are not particularly clever. On Saint Patricks we march in the yearly parade./Theres music and dancing and green lemonade./I walk down the street with my whole Girl Scout troop./It would have been fun, had I not slipped in poop. The brief rhymes and appealing illustrations seem to indicate a good choice for preschoolers. Unfortunately, the book does not live up to these expectations.–Carolyn Janssen, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, OH
