Synopsis
Nothing much ever happens to Digory during his walks through the forest. He mostly plays his lute and writes beautiful songs to sing. But one day, he finds a dragon's tooth and his village assumes he's slayed a dragon! They immediately make him a knight and send him off in search of other dragons to slay. Will Digory be able to face a snarling dragon but live to be an ordinary boy again?

About the Author
Angela McAllister has written a dozen books for Bloomsbury, including Trust Me, Mom! and Little Blue Rabbit.
Ian Beck is a prolific freelance illustrator who created the cover for Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. His books for children include versions of Peter and the Wolf and many fairy tales. He lives in England.

Whimsical dragon-slaying adventures will have young boys reaching for their own armor and swords. Digory's transformation from village coward to knight errant is ably chronicled by narrator Richard Mitchley. Mitchley eschews high drama for a laid-back, believable reading and inserts gentle humor at Digory's riotous wanderings about the countryside. Mitchley's ability to skirt farce adds significantly to the book's appeal as a family listen. While the Briticisms may occasionally stymie young Americans, listeners will enjoy the querulous voices of the forgetful king and the roaring of Digory's dragon.
