From the Author:
Most not familiar with Louisville may think of it as a generic community located somewhere in the central or southern United States. Those who are knowledgeable of its hospitality and artistic attributes realize the true value of living in this unique city. What Louisville lacks in national identity, it more than makes up for in the quality of its cultural and historical assets.

With a regional population of 1.2 million, Louisville is not a rural outpost, nor is it a mega-urban metropolis. It does, though, combine both rural charm and urban amenities into a comfortable mix of lifestyles to accommodate any interest.

From downtown’s busy commercial core to the scenic tranquility of the Olmsted parks, Louisville offers a range of experiences. To fully appreciate this diversity of heritage and aesthetics would take years of study. In fact, many long-time residents have not explored the many distinguished properties of their surrounding native area. And, visitors are pleasantly surprised by the depth of things to see and do in this region. Farmington, Cave Hill Cemetery, St. James Court, and Columbus, Indiana, are several of the delights to be discovered.

These and numerous other distinctive settings make for an enjoyable journey to learn more about the legacy and landmarks of Louisville. To better facilitate and enhance this exploration, this guide offers a starting point for "Louisville Sites to See by DESIGN".
