Synopsis
On January 12, 2010 the 7.0 magnitude earthquake which struck Haiti completely devastating Port-au-Prince and the surrounding villages left 316,000 people dead. Of those who survived at least 250,000 were seriously wounded. Thousands of children were orphaned. How does a country, a people, an individual, a child come to grips with such incomprehensible loss and nd a path to journey forward? One way the mind begins to grasp such tragedyand begins to heal is through the power of story. One s story is repeated over and over again until it journeys from the conscious memory to the sub conscious layers of the mind to the depth of the soul, nding rest and the silence needed to heal. Here in the soul to heal is not to forget, but to hold the memory safe and sacred. Heal of the Hand is a story about the healing power of storytelling in the land and people of Haiti.

About the Author
Kiki Latimer is a grandmother and children s author from Rhode Island. She is the chair person for St Joseph s Haiti Committee and travels to Haiti. Latimer graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in the Oral Communication of Literature, Psychology, and Philosophy. She is involved in the Rhode Island storytelling community as a coach. As a writer, poet, and photographer, her focus is often on the fascinating intersection of people, nature, and language. It was with this vision that she homeschooled her four children. She lives in Hope Valley with her husband Jim. Her titles, published by Educa Vision, include Islands of Hope, The WaterFire Duck and Bubble Butt! The Challenged Sea Turtle of Mystic Aquarium.
