About the Author

Nicolas A. Ratamess, PhD, CSCS*D, is an assistant professor in the department of health and exercise science at The College of New Jersey. A former fitness instructor, strength coach, and competitive power lifter, Dr. Ratamess has authored or coauthored more than 60 scientific investigations, educational articles, review papers, and book chapters on strength and conditioning and sports supplementation. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Club Coach.
