About the Author

Elinor G. Borgert, PhD, MSc, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Medical University of South Carolina. She holds an MSc in Health Economics from the University of York in England and a PhD in Health Administration and Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Borgert has been teaching in colleges of pharmacy, graduate studies, nursing, and health professions for more than 25 years.


Kit N. Simpson, DrPH, MPH, is a Distinguished University Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Simpson received her graduate degrees from the Gillings School of Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill and was a Finance Fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She has 35 years of experience in studies measuring efficacy, effectiveness, cost, and quality of life using clinical trial and quasi-experimental research designs.
