Synopsis

As elementary students grasp the concept and visual of 30 purple passion flowers, they'll also learn that the passion flower is the state wildflower and that Native Americans in Tennessee used the plants to help heal cuts and bruises. Numbers throughout the book are explained with a simple rhyme for younger children and are accompanied by detailed expository text for older learners. Michael Shoulders of Clarksville, Tennessee is a Federal Programs Supervisor and has worked for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System for 28 years. His "Story Time" column appears every week in the Clarksville-Leaf Chronicle. Michael enjoys traveling to schools to speak to educators and children about writing and books. With over 100 limited edition prints and etchings on the market, artist Bruce Langton (Granger, IN) is now proud to add six children's books to his list of achievements. He enjoys giving school presentations and teaching children how to draw and is very involved in the conservation and preservation of nature.

About the Authors
Having been involved in education for more than 30 years, Dr. Michael Shoulders travels extensively, visiting schools and speaking at conferences across the country. In addition to authoring the companion title, Say Daddy!, he has written several books for Sleeping Bear Press, including G is for Gladiator: An Ancient Rome Alphabet. Mike lives in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Bruce Langton's unmistakable style and unique ability to capture not only sporting and wildlife scenes, but also contemporary landscapes has won him numerous awards including the 1998 Featured Artist for the Northern Wildlife Art Expo. He lives with his family in Granger, Indiana.
