About the Author:

Historian Gleaves Whitney grew up in Texas where his love of the West and admiration for the cowboy way of life took root. Louise Doak Whitney was born and raised in Colorado along the Front Range. Her love of the mountains and plains has inspired her love of the cowboy life. The husband-wife writing duo lives in Lansing. Michigan.

Gleaves Whitney served as a senior aide to Michigan Governor John Engler and was also Governor Engler s chief speechwriter and historian. Whitney is a member of the 2004 Board of Directors of the Michigan Humanities Council.

Award winning artist Susan Guy is known for her colorful paintings of equine and western themes. Her work is displayed in numerous galleries and exhibitions across the country, such as the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, Kentucky. She is a signature member of the American Academy of Women Artists and lives in Buffalo, Wyoming.
