From the Back Cover:
Joseph Heywood's fishing novel, The Snowfly, received rave reviews, reeling in readers who love great fiction as well as those who love to fish. Now we can finally understand the extent of the author's passion for the sport and revel in his own admission that he, actually, rarely catches them! And yet, Heywood loves to fish, almost more than anything else. In fact, he leaves his corporate job to retire to a lifetime of fly fishing. Covered Waters is a collection of his wanderings and wonderings about fishing, and life, and how the two relate. Covered Waters is a fascinating confessional: from the opening chapter, in which he recounts his experience recovering from a major stroke; to his revelations of life in the U.S. Air Force, training to drop nukes on the Soviet Union in the cold war; to his grim service in Vietnam; to his insane obsession with bear hunting (which ended the moment he finally killed a bear); to encounters on the river (which range from the hilarious to the poignant to the profound). After fishing the world over, Heywood finds that there is no water like home water, and no fishing partner like old friends.
All fans of Heywood's fiction - as well as all fishermen everywhere - will delight in this memoir. It illuminates truths about fishermen and friends, passions and disappointments, the act of healing, and the wisdom gained by age and the knowledge of mortality.
