About the Author:
Seymour Simon the author of over 200 science books for children. More than half of his books have been named Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children by the National Science Teachers Association. He lives in Great Neck, New York.
From Booklist:
PreS.-Gr. 2. Written for the SeeMore Readers series, this colorful book introduces firefighters and some of the vehicles and tools they use in the line of duty. Beginning with pumper trucks and ladder trucks seen on city streets, the discussion moves on to rescue vehicles used for airplane crashes, forest fires, and fires on ships or in buildings by the water. Two or three lines of fairly simple text appear on each double-page spread, along with a color photograph illustrating the equipment and activity discussed. The directness and clarity of both text and photos make this a good choice for beginning readers as well as for younger children fascinated by the subject. Carolyn Phelan
