In the first-grade spelling bee she won first prize, a book! She was hooked. At Sunday school she learned of religious children's magazines. So began her fifty-year career of writing, publishing, studying and teaching. Juvenile articles and fiction soon turned into adult pieces, covering historical genre, travel, essays, and fiction, all published in national magazines. Included in anthologies are her writings from Bookcraft, Houghton-Mifflin and Harper & Row. As a playwright, her dramas have been mounted in California, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington, D.C. Five of her musicals have been staged in an Arizona Dinner Theater. Two national prize winners are in the Los Angeles Reference Library Play Collection, Vol. I & II.
She taught fiction and nonfiction writing at Ft. Lewis College, is listed in Who's Who in America West, 27th Edition, holds membership in The National League of American Pen Women, Mystery Writers of Arizona and The Society of Southwestern Authors.
A South Dakota native, she lived most of her life in Colorado, moving to Arizona after the death of her husband, Warren, her friend, supporter and devoted marriage companion.
