David Dean's election bid for Sheriff of Ouray County, Colorado becomes complicated after ten-year-old Martha Boyd discovers a skeleton in an abandoned mine. When the bones disappear, Dean runs into trouble with the new acting sheriff and the election gets nasty. Someone wants very badly for the skeleton to remain anonymous! And then, amid Ouray's festive Fourth of July activities, tragedy strikes. The towering mountains that surround the tiny town aren't as peaceful as they appear....

"Dead on the Fourth of July" follows "Mountain Ice,"  "San Juan Solution" and "Time Trial" in the David Dean Mystery series. "Skip Case," published later, is a prequel to the story and tells how David and Cynthia first met.

"Bail Out," also set in Ouray, Colorado follows.
About the Author:
R. E. Derouin is the author of a number of award-winning plays and six David Dean novels. San Juan Solution, the second in the series, was a finalist for the Colorado Book Award and the recipient of a silver medal from the Colorado Independent Publishers.
 
Mr. Derouin has moved from Ouray, Colorado, the setting for the David Dean series. He now resides in Arizona where he continues to write. "Crime Time", a stand-alone mystery, is available on Amazon Kindle as are two other novels, "Enough to Miss Christmas" and recently released "Fridays".
