This book begins in 1966 and relates the experiences of divers who were mostly self taught in the field of underwater rescue and recovery. What they accomplished in the caves and murky waterways of the midwest may seem to violate many of the standards of today's more regulated recreation and dive rescue proceedures.

It is important to understand that this book is a history and not a training manual. Today the Lee's Summit Underwater Rescue & Recovery Team is among the best trained and equipted in the U.S. and has been a source of consultancy to authorities throughout the country.

The members of LSURR are proud to present this history and encourage other teams to offer the same.

About the Author:

Eric Howard became a member of LSURR in 1986. He is a former team president. Prior to joining the team Eric served as an army paratrooper and Marine Corps infantry sergeant. Eric and his wife Suvindar reside in Kansas City, Mo. where he is employed by Maxim Technologies as an engineering Technician.

Co-author John Monson joined LSURR in 1986 and has held several leadership positions and is a former team president. He holds certifications as Ice Rescue Instructor, PADI Divemaster, Nitrox and Full Cave. John is employed by Sprint, as a Call Center design manager, and lives with his wife and their three children.
