Joan Hoffman, M.A., is the author and co-author of hundreds popular storybooks and workbooks for children. Among the titles are Peter’s Dream, I Don’t Like Peas, and The New Bike (the latter two published under the pen name Marie Vinje), the Get Ready for Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade workbook trio, along with the entire Get Ready, Little Thinker, I Know It!, Try-n-Spy, and Little Busy Book workbook series.

She is also co-founder, along with her late husband James Hoffman, Ph.D., of School Zone Publishing. Visionary in business, she has long looked at the world through a child’s eyes, infusing her stories and lessons with joy and relatability.

 As a mother of 4 back in the ‘70s, like moms the world over throughout history, she wanted what was best for her children. And she knew that teachers didn’t have the time to give her kids everything they needed. As an elementary school teacher, Hoffman worked hard to give her students what they needed to learn. She brought retail experience gleaned from previously founding and managing two regional educational book and supply stores for teachers and parents. An innovative problem-solver, she has always sought to reach out to end users and challenge convention. I bought this workbook for my son this summer so he could get a headstart on cursive writing before starting the 3rd grade. He had been bugging me to teach him cursive writing and I'm so glad I bought this workbook because I never realized how much I had strayed from writing proper cursive - without this book I probably would have taught him many of the letters incorrectly. My son was so excited to get this workbook but as soon as he started, he seemed to be struggling with recognizing some of the letters in cursive form. Amazingly, after only one day and after only doing about the first 6 pages, he could already fluently read entire sentences written in cursive. He told me that he can't wait for the teacher to start teaching them cursive so he can show off everything he already knows! --School Zone Website

Yes!! This is a great work book for cursive writing. Cute pictures to go with it to get kids motivated and think it's fun. Love it! Will get another one for our other child next year. Price was good too! Came in good time, as well. Very pleased. :) --Amazon

Cursive Writing
Got this for my grandson who lives in Virginia Beach, VA. I found out from my daughter that cursive writing is no longer taught in Virginia Beach schools. Kind of sad, I mean I don't like cursive writing myself but I think its a needed skill. My grandson really loves it and even though he went through the book he keeps practicing his cursive writing. --Amazon
