K-Gr. 2. Short on text and long on pictures of cute, cuddly pups and handsome adult Labs, this entry in the new Eye to Eye with Dogs series will attract lots of young dog lovers. The book is divided into five short sections, each containing two to three pages of large-print text accompanied by captioned color photographs. Information on general characteristics, history, appearance, and some of the ways the dogs help humans is included. A closing note to prospective dog owners discusses the importance of choosing the right breed and calls attention to a dog's social and physical needs.Young children paging through this will find the simple language and short sentence structure very inviting. A brief glossary and index are appended, and youngsters interested in finding out more about the breed can visit the suggested Web sites.
