"These volumes provide overviews of the geography, history, and culture of each province or territory, along with an idea of how it fits into Canada as a whole. The maps are clear and well labeled...Interesting and well-produced black-and-white photographs appear throughout,..The strength of these titles is in their organization and the amount of information they provide. They are more in-depth than entries in the Hello Canada (Fitzhenry & Whiteside), Eye on Canada (Weigl), and Canada in the 21st Century ( Chelsea). Their major weakness is that the point of view is conspicuosly American, which leads to some rather dismissive opinions and observations, such as the statement in the foreword (included in each volume) that labels Canada as a national experiment. However, the multitude of American analogies peppered throughout each title will be helpful to U.S. students in understanding the size and diversity of their neighbor to the north."
