This book grew out of my fascination with Wales and King Arthur. It is meticulously researched from an entire shelf of Arthur legends, Owain Glyndwr legends, Henry V (by Shakespeare), as well as a breathtaking visit to Wales. That little corner of the UK is enchanting and its history is compelling. It is full of legends and rich characters, some of which find their way into this tale.
I am a die hard genealogist, although writing and grandchildren have dislodged that vocation down to #3. The torch has been passed to my son Morgan and his wife, Jessi, who know how to do genealogy using the Internet. During my reign, I found over 3,000 ancestors on my side and a like number on my husband's side.I am a native-born Californian who has lived all over the U.S. and in Austria. I graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in International Relations, and from George Washington University with an MA in the same subject. Emphasis: Eastern European History, Politics, and Economics. I was very surprised when, shortly after I received my degree, I found that my mother's half-German ancestry came from Russia (which I had studied intensely), and my father's half-German ancestry came from a part of Germany that is now Poland (which country had been the focus of my studies.) I decided that this phenomenon meant that we have "voices in our blood." I wrote my first book: Voices In Your Blood: Discovering Identity Through Family History, on this subject.Cankered Roots was not far behind. After twenty years of being traditionally published, I am now an Indie writer and have republished all my mysteries under my new imprint: Orson Whitney Press. I have also republished my award-winning epic: The Last Waltz: A Novel of Love and War. New publications are The Only Way to Paradise and four best-selling Regency romances: The Duke's Undoing, The Taming of Lady Kate, Miss Braithwaite's Secret, and Rescuing Rosalind. As of this moment (Mar. 2013), I am writing a new Briggie and Alex, tentatively titled The Chinese Descendancy, which takes place on a cruise ship bound for Hawaii. I have another one plotted taking place in my beloved Florence, entitled Renaissance Roots, which will be published in 2014.
