About the Author

Mike Zdeb, a research scientist at the Center for Community Health in the New York State Department of Health, is also an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University at Albany School of Public Health. He has completed numerous projects involving the creation of maps to illustrate health-related data. Most recently, Mike worked on a project that uses maps to help county health departments develop community health assessment plans.

As part of a course on advanced topics in SAS, Mike instructs his class on the use of SAS/GRAPH¨ to produce maps. He is also a co-instructor of a course on GIS and public health.

Mike has been a SAS user since 1986 and has presented at SUGI, NESUG, and local SAS users group meetings.
