Though Paul Gauguin was considered a failure during his own time, history paints Gauguin as one of the leading French Post-Impressionists. Grade 7-12-Two books written in a conversational tone that will hold readers' interest. Both titles convey a sense of who the artists were as people-their courage and dedication to their work as well as their arrogance, egoism, or eccentricities, thus creating a well-balanced view. The format is an open and inviting one, and the numerous full-color reproductions are of excellent quality. Engaging and informative.
