About the Author

Maurizio Rafanelli is senior scientist at the Istituto di Annlisi dei Sistemi ed Informatica "Antonio Ruberti", Rome, Italy and in charge of the research area "Information Systems and Knowledge Bases for Complex Information Structures". He is author and co-author of many international publications (journals, conferences, books, etc.). He was a part time Professor at the University of Roma - La Sapienza (Roma-1) and at the University of Roma - Tor Vergata (Roma-2) from 1981 to 1997. He was General Chairman at the 4th International Conference on Statistical and Scientific Database Management (Proceed. Lecture Notes in Computer Science N. 339, Springer-Verlag Pub.) in 1988 and General Chairman at the 10th International Conference on Scientific and Statistical Database Management (Proceed. IEEE Publ.) in 1998.
