About the Author

Merrill Warkentin is Professor of MIS at Mississippi State University. He has published over 125 research manuscripts, primarily in eCommerce, computer security management, and virtual team research, in books, proceedings, and journals. Professor Warkentin is the co-author or editor of four books, and is currently an Associate Editor of Information Resources Management Journal, Journal of Information Systems Security, and eGovernment Quarterly. Dr. Warkentin has served as a consultant to numerous organizations and has served as National Distinguished Lecturer for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Previously, Dr. Warkentin held the Reisman Research Professorship at Northeastern University in Boston, where he was also the Director of MIS and E-Commerce programs. Professor Warkentin holds BA, MA, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Vaughn received his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in 1988. He is the Billie J. Ball Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and teaches and conducts research in the areas of Software Engineering and Information Security. Prior to joining the University, he completed a twenty-six year career in the Army where he commanded the Army's largest software development organization and created the Pentagon agency that today centrally manages all Pentagon IT support. While on active duty with the Army, he served a three-year assignment with the National Security Agency's National Computer Security Center where he authored national level computer security guidance and conducted computer security research. After retiring as a full Colonel in June 1995, he accepted a position as Vice President of DISA Integration Services, EDS Government Systems where he was responsible for a wide variety of technical service contracts. Dr. Vaughn has over 70 publications to his credit and is an active contributor to software engineering and information security conferences and journals. In 2004, Dr. Vaughn was named a Mississippi State University Eminent Scholar.
