Synopsis

For too long the traditional approach to coaching football has concentrated on the development of technical skills in isolation. However, the best footballers do not rely on technical ability alone. They possess game sense – the ability to solve the problems posed by the game and by their opponents. The ideas in this book will help develop this game sense from a young age, which – in the long term – will produce more intelligent football players. The model we have created and the games we have devised will hopefully generate enthusiasm in youngsters and encourage them to reach their full potential. A combination of stimulating activities and meaningful coaching will ensure players stay motivated and enjoy their training sessions. Quite simply they will play and learn – and learn to play.
