"Golf," observed Mark Twain, "is a good walk spoiled." Of course, golfers know it's more than that. It's "a game in which you try to put a small ball in a small hole with implements singularly unsuited to the purpose" (Winston Churchill). The wit and trenchancy of that esteemed twosome gets some pretty good competition in the pages of The Quotable Golfer by hackers and pros alike: P.G.
