Synopsis

Hobie the Hope Bear is beautifully illustrated by award-winning artist, Pamela Erickson. Hobie was created in response to the 9/11 tragedy and the recognition that our children are the key to a world of understanding and respect. Hobie appeals to parents who want a little extra help in talking to their children about differences and prejudices. He appeals to children who can relate to feeling different or left out. This book is the first in a series of adventures that will help Hobie understand that we are all more alike than we are different. The planned series of Hobie adventures will tackle how to find the keys to bonding with others, including the importance of respect, empathy, and understanding.

Review

''Teaching tolerance begins with our youngest children. Hobie the Hope Bear is an effort to stop the anger before it begins, by sending positive messages of respect and understanding.'' ----Walter Mondale, former U.S. Vice President

''The message of tolerance is essential, especially in today's world. We need to look for areas of common ground where we can work together--while celebrating our strengths and differences--to make our world a better and safer place for our children.
