PreSchool-In this board-book introduction to the well-known cumulative rhyme/song, smiling animals are outlined in thick black lines and placed on vibrantly colored, uncluttered pages. Verses are located on the left-hand side of each spread and the featured animals and their sounds are on the right. As readers move forward with the rhyme, small pictures of each creature and its identifying sound in varying fonts are added to the text pages. While fewer animals are featured in this version than others, this simple text is perfect for one-on-one sharing. Children ready for longer versions might try Paul Galdone's Cat Goes Fiddle-I-Fee (Clarion, 1988) and/or Will Hillenbrand's Fiddle-I-Fee (Harcourt, 2002).
