Synopsis

Ninety minutes, twice a day. Five days a week. And they hate each other.

Car pool heaven turns into car pool hell when Anthea Rossignole realizes her lover is having an affair with the other woman sharing their daily commute. Anthea’s corporate career as a cost analyst is the only thing keeping her together. Now she’s looking for someone to share the long drive in the Bay Area’s notorious traffic.

Shay Sumoto desperately needs a car pool. Though wildly overqualified, the environmental biologist takes a job testing well samples to keep body and soul together. The debt from her father’s terminal illness and the loss of their company have left her with no money and no sense of humor.

When Shay and Anthea begin carpooling together, their instant antipathy gets even worse. But when Shay uncovers alarming test results in her work–information that could cost both of them their jobs–Anthea is the only person she trusts for advice.

About the Author

Ice cream. TimTams. Coffee. Tells tales about women who are the heroes of their own lives. Love IS the universal story. More about that and all my books at Kallmaker.com.

From the Inside Flap

Anthea rolled down her window and slipped out of her suit jacket. Shay realized she couldn't take her gaze off of Anthea's blouse. When she finally tore her attention back to the road, the sight of those soft, full swells under a high-collared silk shirt was burned in her mind's eye like the afterglow of an acetylene torch. Good God, she thought. It had been too long. They were probably as soft as mounds of Mrs. Giordano's baby tushy pizza dough. Shay trembled and realized she was salivating, which revolted her enough that she could breathe again.

She was not salivating over Anthea. Absolutely not. Anthea was definitely not her type ... closeted, apparently rich, and ... well, not athletic. Even if her calves were fabulous.

Think about groundwater remediation, she told herself. Think about your report to the Water Board. Think of a white bear.
