About the Author:

TERRI ARTHUR found out about Edith Cavell from a book about postcards of nurses. She was surprised she had never heard about this wonderful nurse hero before. Terri took many trips to England where Edith lived, and to Belgium where Edith set up her nursing school. It was then that Terri decided to write a book about Edith Cavell. No nurse had ever written about Edith before, so Terri thought her nursing experience would bring new light to Edith's story and that children ages 8 to 12 should be given a chance to learn about Edith. Terri grew up in Fall River, MA. She got her degrees in teaching and nursing in Greenville, SC. Then she moved back to Massachusetts and worked in hospitals on Cape Cod, where she lives now.

Terri is frequently asked to give talks about Edith Cavell. The two books she wrote about Edith Cavell have received awards. The study guide was added so this book could easily be used in the classroom. - - - - - JACLYN TAYLOR has her Masters of Art in Teaching Reading and is licensed as a Reading Specialist, Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher, and English as a Second Language Teacher. She taught 3rd grade for seven years before becoming a literacy coach, where she works closely with the teachers and students across multiple schools in North Andover, Massachusetts. Jaclyn has led a series of literacy workshops, hosted numerous professional development seminars, and presented at multiple Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence conferences. She co-authored this book and helped create the study guide for teachers and students. Jaclyn currently lives in northern Massachusetts with her husband and dog, Maisy.
