About the Author
Lynn Rowe Reed grew up without eating a single ant. An award-winning illustrator, designer, and author, she lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Kindergarten-Grade 2-A rhyming tale of an anteater running amok. Julius accompanies his young owner to school, and his pursuit of a meal leads him to hijack the bus ("The driver must need to pee-/she left the bus and the key"), attack a teacher's toupee, and misbehave during a field trip to the zoo. Eventually, he winds up in a police chase, manages to trip up a bank robber, and is hailed as a hero by the town. Full of puns and adult-sounding asides ("You try to find something that rhymes with paper"), the text is often difficult to follow. Much of the wordplay is just too obscure for young readers. Combining acrylics and photographic collage, the artwork is bold and witty with a lot happening on each page. However, the style is overly sophisticated for the simplicity of the story. It almost seems as though the plot is intended to support the attention-grabbing speech bubbles and visual jokes rather than the reverse.-Jane Barrer, Washington Square Village Creative Steps, New York City
