Synopsis
Ron entered the long hospital ward looking for his brother Roger. After not being able to locate him, he went to a doctor standing to the side of a nearby bed. "I'm Sgt. Helle's Brother," he said. "How is he?" The doctor looked at Ron and said, "I'm sorry son, but your brother is going to die. There is nothing else we can do." Lying only a few beds away, drifting in and out of consciousness, Roger heard those words...a death sentence pronounced over him. Not yet 23, he felt a fear grip his heart greater than the horrors of combat he had already experienced. That fear caused him to silently cry out, "God, if there realy is a God, if you let me live, I'll do anything you want!" Then he drifted off into a drug induced sleep. That prayer would be answered in a way Roger could never have imagined; bot only after years of nightmares and emotional battles. Peach did come at last, as Roger finally made peache with Vietnam and his past.
