Walter Joh Williams is a traveler, a scuba diver, a fourth degree black belt in Kenpo, and the author of twenty-five novels and two previous collections of shorter works. He lives with his wife Kathleen Hedges on an old Spanish land grant in the high desert of New Mexico. After an early career as a historical novelist, he switched to science fiction. He has won two Nebula Awards for short fiction.
