It is an evocative novel which delicately exposes the existential dilemmas that loyalty and responsibility present in the lives of the protagonists, and the immense personal and emotional toll exacted when they are violated. Written with clarity of thought and a language all its own, this novel was compared by critics to giants of literature such as John Williams and Gabriel García Márquez. It is a bold statement offered with keen psychological insight and a warm and empathic stance about common, albeit often overlooked painful occurrences in the lives of us all.
