Andrea Lott, a Seattle native, started her career in the food industry at the age of five, selling chocolate chip cookies on football game days outside of her Montlake house near Husky Stadium. Now, as an international traveler and former management consultant, she is immersed in the Seattle food world from soups to nuts - from the shopping expeditions, to the impressive evening meals she prepares for many friends and family. This Dining In Seattle: Past & Present project appealed to Andrea as it allowed her to peek into the kitchens of prominent Seattle chefs, express her culinary expertise, and scratch her itch for details, details, details. As a former gymnast, the question remains for Andrea, Do I eat to work out, or work out to eat? Andrea, Elliott's middle daughter, is a Yale University graduate and lives on Mercer Island with her husband, Jordan.
Andrea Umbach, a Seattle-based executive leadership coach, has enjoyed dining in many cities throughout the world wherever her jobs and family have taken her. Always interested in trying to recreate restaurant dishes at home, putting together this newest volume of Dining In allows her to take this aspiration to a new level. A mutual interest in how dining out and the food industry has changed over the years brought the two authors together. Andrea cooks and entertains with a focus on bringing friends and family together around the finest of foods and creating a warm and welcoming table. She has learned that bringing the restaurant experience to home chefs requires attention to details, patterns, and stories, a bit like coaching executives. A graduate of University of California Berkeley and Cornell University, Andrea lives on Capitol Hill with her two teenage sons, Liam and Finley, and their parrot, Pan.
Elliott Wolf, is the owner of Classic Day/Peanut Butter Publishing, the oldest self-publishing business in the nation. Beyond helping authors produce and market their books since 1971, he also pioneered the restaurant cookbook market. His Dining In series was launched in 1977 with the simple concept of gathering the best recipes from the best restaurants in major North American cities. The Dining In series received rave reviews and generated 38 volumes covering 30 cities, selling over one million copies. To this day, fans request back copies and inquire about upcoming volumes. That is, in fact, what inspired him to re-launch the series with this most recent volume Dining In Seattle: Past & Present, this time incorporating a sense of nostalgia for the dining experiences of our past and inspiring a new generation of today's home chefs who seek to recreate the restaurant experience at home. With great expertise and years of experience, Elliott continues to guide authors through the publishing process and provide readers with books that educate, enthrall, and enhance our lives - and often keep us well-fed along the way. Elliott lives on a houseboat on Lake Union, and to this day contends: I have the greatest job in the world.
