Dale Wildman grew up on a small farm, in a small Ohio town (N. Bloomfield, pop. 800) that boasted one grocery store, one bank, one gas station and no traffic lights. His parents owned a 60-acre farm, located miles from just about everything. Waking in 1972 to find he had just graduated from high school, he went on to a variety of jobs, including furnace operator, farmhand and mill worker. Concluding that he was "better at writing than working", he got a job as a copywriter with a local ad firm, went on to a bigger agency and, eventually, switched his focus to writing newspaper columns and books. He has been a full-time professional writer for twenty-five years. In addition to his growing number of children's titles in both prose and verse, he is the author of fiction and nonfiction books in several genres, an award-winning ad copywriter and a former Hallmark Cards staff writer. He penned the popular column 'Plain Talk' for over a decade, and still writes the occasional magazine article and book review. Dale lives in southwest Ohio with his three children, a dog and the laziest cat in the world. He has spoken to large groups as well as small gatherings, and is available to talk "readin' and writin'" and/or give writing workshops, to everyone from grade schoolers to high school students to adult classes
