Reviews

For a crafting material, you can’t get much better than paper. It’s generally cheap and readily available, comes in an endless variety of colors and textures, and is workable in a whole bunch of innovative ways to make some beautiful and usable pieces of art. Paper Cuts gives some great ideas and background on hand-cut paper designs. By beginning with an overview of the materials and tools and an introduction to some of the techniques crafters should be familiar with, Hagerty gives a good base for newcomers to start making some lovely paper crafts right off the bat. The book also includes several projects devised by various artists to make a wide range of cards, party decor, centerpieces, and more. While the projects would benefit from some photos of the less-straightforward steps, they are generally described well, and the book seems to have a nice range of difficulties from novice to practiced crafter. Included at the end of the book are the photocopiable designs and patterns for the projects, allowing for the possibility of some customization. --Tina Coleman
