Synopsis
Textile artist Sarah Lawrence demonstrates the basic methods for creating silk paper in step-by-step detail. She shows how the resulting paper can be embellished and adapted through the use of dyes, natural and manmade inclusions and simple techniques such as cutting and layering, embroidery and more. Using some of her own art as examples, the author shows the myriad of ways textile artists can develop the wonderful medium of silk paper to create flat and 3D designs, from framed pieces to jewelry and more. This practical guide illustrates the many types of silk fiber available and contains an extensive glossary of silk-making terms, opening up this exciting medium for crafters of all levels to explore.

Sarah Lawrence has been working with textiles for many years, and is an accomplished felt maker. She is passionate about the combination of texture and color and is an accomplished teacher of textile arts having taught in multiple countries with her work displayed in Europe, US, Canada and Australia.
