Weaponeering: Conventional Weapon System Effectiveness, Second Edition provides an extensive analysis of the techniques used to predict the effect of air-launched and surface-launched conventional weapons directed against ground targets. These methods are typically those found in the Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manuals (JMEM) and their associated weaponeering tools such as the JMEM Weaponeering System (JWS). Surface-to-surface Weaponeering including Indirect fire weapons such as artillery and mortars, and Direct fire systems such as small or medium caliber weapons as used against personnel, materiel targets and small boats. Advanced Weaponeering where higher fidelity weapon characteristics are dealt with such as air blast, trajectory, ground penetration and cratering. Also, specific target types are discussed in more detail including personnel, tunnels, above ground buildings, bunkers, and bridges. Additional chapters cover collateral damage estimation, anti-air weaponeering tools and target acquisition.

About the Author
MORRIS R. DRIELS has taught engineering at universities in the United Kingdom and the United States since 1972. Beginning around 1995 in support of the Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness, his research has focused on various aspects of conventional weapon effects, commonly known as weaponeering. Since 2000 he has taught a graduate-level Introduction to Weaponeering class at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and an associated short course to military and civilian audiences in the United States and overseas.
