First published in 1936, this is an account by Lanning (late of Duke U.) of the diplomatic struggle in the colonial Americas over the lands of Georgia between England and Spain during the era that also witnessed the less diplomatic Queen Anne's War, the War of Jenkins' Ear, and the French and Indian Wars. Lanning tells the story mainly from the Spanish perspective, adding to his narrative of Spanish activities in colonial America told in The Spanish Missions of Georgia.
