The book is designed for buddy reading, with left-hand pages written for the adult (or more experienced) reader, and right-hand pages written for the child. This particular title is written at Level K, the first level, so the text is simple; the child’s portion consists of a single word that completes the sentence begun by the adult. The rhyming text and illustrations help to prompt the child reader, so the experience should feel natural. The museum setting is sure to appeal to children, as will the subplot involving a trapped bird. There are plenty of “look and find” opportunities as the bird follows the girl and her dad around the museum. Then it's lunch time, and while the girl is eating her sandwich on a park bench, a bird takes a bite of it to feed to her babies. Upon reentering the museum, the bird follows them, resulting in several humourous escapades. As the series title indicates, the book is meant to be shared, with an adult reading the more challenging text on the left and a child completing the sentence with one easy word on the right. The colorful and appealing illustrations show the closeness of the girl and her dad as they delight in their outing together.
