Embracing the ancient Chinese belief that an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance, and that the thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break, author, Lorraine Butler Simcox has delicately crafted a classic children's book. Filled with remarkable illustrations by award winning children's illustrator Lin Wang, A Single Red Thread is a welcomed addition to any child's book collection or library. A Single Red Thread is Lorraine s first children s book and was inspired by her own adoption experience of her daughter, Lillian. In addition to Lorraine's Yi~blessing in Lillian, she is graced with the blessing of her husband, Dwight Rex, and their son, Johnathan. They all reside in northwest Georgia where they enjoy family gatherings, the mountain air, and a good hike in the woods with their golden retriever, Lady-Bell.
As I ponder this story and the labor of love required to see it come to fruition, the rewards seem all too apparent. The solemn joy of watching a little girl play and hearing the sound of her laughter ring through the air is a blissful experience. It is a doubly wonderous thing for me; for, you see, this is the little girl I desperatley longed for, but never, ever imagined I would have. As I see the realization of my heart's deepest dreams, I wish to also extend this hope to others. To give the hope of a Mamma and a Daddy to a child with neither, and to offer the hope of a loving child's arms reaching out to a longing heart - that is the intention of this book. Today with over 143 million children abandoned or orphaned world-wide, it is imperative that this story be told and that this hope be offered. We cannot help them all, but we can all do something to help. If this story moves you to consider adopting, foster parenting, or giving your time and resources so that these children have a family to call their own, then this book has accomplished its task.
